CAELON

COLBERT

Caelon Colbert is a director, educator, and performer who believes theatre should be an experience: immediate, imaginative, collaborative, and alive to the world around us.

Based in Little Rock, Arkansas, Caelon is the Artistic Director of Actors Theatre of Little Rock, where they champion bold storytelling, experimentation, and theatre that reflects the many communities and perspectives that make up Arkansas. His work asks audiences and artists to look at familiar stories differently, challenge traditional theatrical frameworks, and reconsider who gets to be at the center of the narrative.

At the heart of Caelon’s artistic practice are two questions: Why this story? And why now? They are drawn to work that creates a conversation between the story, the people telling it, and the world experiencing it. Whether reimagining a classic, creating an immersive theatrical experience, or developing new work, Caelon approaches each production as an opportunity to make something that could only exist here, with these artists, at this moment.

Deeply committed to arts education and equity, Caelon believes theatre can be a powerful tool for connection, confidence, and self-discovery. He is passionate about creating opportunities for young artists, empowering the next generation of storytellers, and advocating for voices that have too often been left at the margins, both onstage and behind the scenes.

For Caelon, theatre is not simply about telling stories. It is about asking better questions, creating space for people to see themselves, and making audiences feel something they can carry with them beyond the theatre.
